At King Street Primary School, we recognise the importance of science in daily life, and we aspire to provide a science curriculum which enables pupils to explore and discover the world around them, embedding a deeper understanding of the ever-changing world we live in. Scientific learning encompasses expanding both the substantive and disciplinary knowledge of the children, as well as their understanding of our world. We aim to develop the natural curiosity of every child, encourage respect for living organisms and the physical environment and provide opportunities to develop a passion to pursue science as a career in future years to come.
At King Street Primary School, and in conjunction with the aims of the National Curriculum, the teaching of science across the Key Stages intends to offer an array of opportunities for all children to:

develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics;

develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them;
