Introduction

Welcome to our SIR (SEN Information Report) which is part of Durham County Council’s Local Offer for children and young people with Special Educational Needs. Our SEN Information Report will provide details about how we implement our policy and practice to deliver high quality SEN provision for children and young people with SEN.

This SEND Information Report should be read alongside the school’s SEND Policy, the Equalities Information and Objectives and the Accessibility Plan which you can find in the School Policies section. These are produced after consultation with parents/carers, children and staff and then ratified by the governing body.

The SEN Information Report was reviewed and updated in September 2023.

School Ethos

At King Street Primary and Pre-School, we are fully committed to the inclusion of all children across an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum. All staff work together to provide children with the best possible learning experiences both indoors and outdoors which will support them to reach their full potential. We recognise the diverse and individual needs of all of our pupils and take into account the additional support and/or adaptions required by those children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

We believe in early intervention, removing barriers to learning through carefully thought-through adaptions to the curriculum and working in partnership with parents / carers and other agencies in order to provide a positive educational experience for all our pupils including those with a special education need or disability.

At King Street Primary and Pre-School, we ensure we have ambitious aspirations for all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, and that they make the best possible progress during their time with us.
